there are actually a few great places to farm in winterspring. one such area is in (67,40) where you can farm ice thistle yetis. if you are a skinner, i highly recommend checking this area out because you can skin the ice thistle yetis for their rugged and thick leather. this would be an addition to the vendor trash and green items they drop.

Gathering the Gold in Wrath of the Lich King

wrath of the lich king has landed and the world of warcraft has changed. there are new talents, new builds, new gear, new areas to explore, and so on, but one of the areas that hasn’t changed much is in the gold making techniques.

gathering is unchanged, except for discovering the new things to gather. demand for green drops from mobs will probably be strong for awhile since much of it is better than the epic stuff people had at level 70. certain crafted items (especially glyphs) will sell very well and the materials to make the popular enchants and crafted items will sell very well. the only real difference here will be in exactly which crafts and enchants are popular.

skinning - as always, skin everything you can. sell the scraps, too. keep an eye on the auction house for which skins sell best and which hot crafting recipes require those skins.

mining - cobalt and titanium await you. engineering, blacksmithing, and jewelcrafting will create a demand for these ores and that demand should stay strong for a long time.

herbalism - now that wrath of the lich king is here people will get back to raiding which will require the usual collection of potions, created from the various herbs that you will be picking. plus there’s inscription, which has driven the price of herbs way up, since the inscription ink come from herbs. with much of the playerbase being in northrend, gathering away, i don’t think northrend herbs will stay very high priced for long, which is great for scribes, but not so great for herbalists. outland herbs, which have been cheap for some time now, might go up as the gatherers head to northrend.

fishing and cooking - some fish will likely be needed for alchemy, as well as for cooking, and some might turn out to do interesting things (such as savory deviate delight.) of course, certain foods are in demand for the buffs they provide and those foods should sell well.

looting - keep a close eye on any white or better items you loot in your day to day monster mashing. some of these items will be valuable.

limited items - i have no doubt that there will be a number of new “limited items” appearing on various vendors. keep an eye on these as several might sell for a very nice profit on the auction house.

speaking of the auction house… this really is the area where people can make some serious gold. there are two basic ideas here, both of which require a good understanding of the market on your server.

1) buy low and sell high is a tried and true one. herbs for example. if an herb (or ore, or…) normally goes for 30gold a stack and you see that someone has dumped a bunch of stacks for 5 gold, buy them up and resell them. if prices are starting to look depressed then just hold those items for a few days and keep a close eye on the ah. post them at a higher price when the market allows.

2) find holes in the market and fill them. if a certain glyph is rare and selling for a high price then see if you can make a few of that glyph and sell them for that high price. same with herbs. if the market needs a few more of a certain herb, because prices are so high, go out and farm a few.

lastly, consider using a low level alt to do all of your buying and selling. it’s less distracting than if you use your main character, you’ll be able to focus on making gold and not spending it on better stuff. just make a level 1 character to be your “banker” and run to the nearest big city and park in the auction house. next have your main character mail this character some starting money (for auction fees.) then as your other characters collect sellable loot and limited items they mail all of those items to the banker for resale.

gold strategies focus on 3 different points:

1. increasing the yield from traditional gold farming.

2. making farming more entertaining.

3. helping the overall development of the character instead of just getting gold alone.

the next issue is finding the appropriate gold strategies for your character. what works for a rogue (see video), doesn’t work for a mage and so on.

the way out is simple - use a gold guide that covers all of the character classes and gold strategies available today, and keeps updating itself at regular intervals.

here are some tips that can help you farm gold much faster!

tip 1:

reduce your downtime as much as possible. by reducing your downtime (time spent eating and drinking for example), you can easily increase your yield by 10-25 gold per hour.

link your spells together to fire them off quickly. with less time spent killing the opponents that provide gold (stratholme for example), you can increase your yield by 10-20 gold.

tip 3:

before making suicidal raids for gold, remove all armor from the body. this reduces the gold you spend repairing the damaged equipment, thereby increasing your earning.

tip4:

focus on maximizing attack and quickly finishing off small enemies. there are enemies that take less than 20 seconds to finish off (less than 1000 health) if you focus on improving the attack. while these enemies don’t yield a ton of gold, following this strategy, you can earn 1 gold a minute or more without being bored. that’s 60 gold per hour!

Using Micro Grinding To Bring Home The Bacon

micro grinding is a method i have been using for a while, and some of you have probably dabbled with it, but never correctly. i showcased this on my website, and i have heard some great success stories. now before you continue reading this method, you have to remember that all servers vary, but i think this strategy will work game-wide.

microgrinding is mainly for high levels, but in all seriousness it could be done at any level above 30. the higher level you are, the better this will work. it is simply taking down grinding spots that are good for low levels.

most players think that lower level mobs = lower priced drops. this is not the case anymore. low level items are highly inflated in the auction house. i spent a long time buying/re-listing items in the auction house in the low level category. instead of wasting the initial cost of buying out the auction, i decided to farm the items myself. it wasn’t that hard since i could one shot all the mobs, and plus i got the bonus of cloth, coin, and the occasional blue.

since you can clear these mobs quickly you have a greater chance of those greens and blues dropping because you will drop them quicker.

the only problem with micro grinding is that since you are killing mobs so quickly, you may have to wait for re-spawns. this will quickly kill the amount of gold you can pull in an hour. to fix this you will want to find bugged spots (i list two of them in this guide), where the mobs keep spawning quickly.

an alternative fix to this, are instances. many players use instances to kill the necessary mobs and then move on to the bosses so they can quickly disenchant the drops and reset the instance to do this again. i don’t believe this is the most effective way since the walking time back and forth would drop your gold/hour rate. to effectively use this strategy you will kill all the mobs in the instance, relying on the drops.

my favorite instances are:

sfk (twink items)

deadmines (loads of linen/cloth - great low end items)

stockades (alliance, great boe greens and blues - wool cloth - easy accessibility)

scarlet monestary (wool/silk - great boe greens for the 30-40 range - good boss drops - a lot of mobs)

now to amplify this strategy you want to do it to meet your servers needs. you should recognize your server needs each day when you make your ah scans. you mainly want to check the cloth and low level armor/weapons. if you see a big level gap missing or one major section of cloth missing, this is exactly what you want to target. by missing i mean they aren’t existent in the ah at the time you look for it, or you will see that there’s a few auctions but they are crazily inflated (like linen popping in for 2g, or low level items for 5-6g).

this strategy works the best with paladins and mages because of the aoe ability - but any class can do this. instances work great with paladin and mage aoe because you can gain aggro just by running through them. when you gain aggro inside an instance (in most cases) the mobs will follow, and they wont de-aggro. this means you don’t have to worry about controlling aggro while pulling more mobs.

lets face it, you bought the game and although it is fun, you are jealous because your new toon does not have any gold. world of warcraft is an extremely challenging game to play even though the makers have attempted to make it as easy as possible to keep the gamer interested. the problem that i found when playing was that it was difficult to gather gold. hours and hours are spent playing the game yet by then end of the time, only a few silver pieces are in the bag.

so, what did i learn that helped me multiply those silver pieces into gold? let me share with you some great gold gathering tips:

farm like crazy, but only when you are in the mood. farming is the equivalent to killing the same monsters over and over again in a specific area and collecting the coin and items they drop. this can be lucrative only if you have the time and patience to do something very repetitive. if not, skip farming and go to the next one.
gathering. pick a profession and begin gathering or harvesting the materials required. if its mining, then mine like crazy. if its herbalism, then start harvesting those flowers. the bottom line is you need to build your profession fast and start selling your products. for example, herbalists combined with alchemy can make potions. powerful potions can help even the most experienced players if used correctly. sell them!
questing. start collecting quests like they are candy. once you have a good handful of them, go and complete them. you generally will end up killing a bunch of monsters and get coin and item drops as well as the quest reward at the end. serious money can be made here.
find someone who has a high level toon and ask them to take you through some dungeons that they can handle alone. for example do a deadmines or stockade run when you are lower level with a higher level toon. having friends in world of warcraft is key. when you yourself get up in levels, you’ll be able to do these runs alone and compound your earnings.
during the lower level times, collect everything and resell it. this will quickly add up your money.

3 Highly Lucrative Cloths To Farm For

before you discount the idea of farming cloth, keep in mind that cloth still goes for tons of gold on many servers. if you know what types to farm for, then you can make a killing. so here are three great types of cloth to go for:

#1: wool cloth

wool cloth is a huge seller when you are a low level. it is your biggest money maker because you can begin getting it at such a low level. the place place to farm for wool cloth is the graveyard in duskwood. the area is called “the raven hill cemetery”. inside of this area you will find plenty of undead mobs, ranging from levels 20-28. you will find skeletons and ghouls.

all of these mobs have a great chance of dropping wool cloth. most of the big raiding guilds on servers used this spot to farm wool for the opening of aq.

#2: silk cloth

there are two great places to farm silk cloth. the first would be located in hillsbrad. you can farm the mudsnout gnolls. they are level 26-28 and also have 2 added bonuses for killing them. they also have 3 chests that spawn around them and a rare spawn named: ro’bark.

the second place to farm silk would be the most obvious. scarlet monastery. scarlet monastery has 2 bonuses that hillsbrad can’t offer. you are guaranteed a few blues if you farm the full instance (from killing the bosses), which you can sell for a nice price and you can also get some chests inside the instance.

the second bonus would be that you get all the mobs to yourself, and to respawn them all you have to do is reset the instance. the only downside is the drops are not as frequent. when they do drop the drop amounts are much higher.

#3: mageweave cloth

mageweave cloth actually has a lot of good places to farm. the best zone for farming mageweave is tanaris though. there are two great spots for farming inside of tanaris. by far the best spot for farming mageweave is the pirates in tanaris. they are packed very close together and they drop good amounts of cloth. the pirates also respawn quickly.

the only downside to the pirates is that it’s also a great grinding spot. you may have plenty of company there, so you may want to stop over at the other spot in tanaris. you can kill the dunemaul ogre’s. they are all over the western edges of tanaris.
